Pune : In a serious case of corruption, two officials from the Haveli Land Records Department in Pune have been accused of demanding a bribe of ₹25 lakh, and one of them has been caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. The incident has shocked the local administration and raised fresh concerns over corruption in government offices.
According to the complaint, Amarsingh Ramchandra Patil, Deputy Superintendent of Land Records, Pune, and Kiran Yetale, a land surveyor, demanded a bribe of ₹50 lakh, which was later reduced to ₹25 lakh after negotiation. The accused threatened Ashtekar that if the amount was not paid, “helicopter shots would be applied”—a slang indicating severe action or false manipulation of records.
The FIR was filed by Kunal Chandrashekhar Ashtekar, a 41-year-old businessman from Shivajinagar, Pune. Ashtekar had legally paid all government fees and completed land surveys for his properties located at Survey Nos. 181/3, 181/4A, 181/6, and 181/9/1 in Hadapsar in 2023 and 2024. However, when he approached the Land Records Department for boundary demarcation, the corruption began.
The complaint further states that Yetale created a fake land ownership document (Form ‘C’) in the name of a neighboring landholder to pressurize Ashtekar and cause him financial damage, after he refused to pay.
Following this, a trap was laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). During the operation, one of the officials was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
A case has been registered at Yerawada Police Station (FIR No. 277/2025, dated 18 April 2025) underSection 308(2), 198, and 201 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The investigation is currently being handled by ACP Machhindra Khade of the Economic and Cyber Crime Department, Pune City, and FIR has been registered by PI Suhas Patil, Economic Offences Wing.
