Pune : A tragic incident has come to light from Pune, where a 32-year-old man, Prafulla Harishchandra Kadam, died by suicide at his residence in Dhanori on December 31. According to police reports, Prafulla had been facing continuous harassment from his wife, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law, which allegedly drove him to this extreme step.
This case is reminiscent of a similar incident involving Atul Subhash, a 29-year-old from Nashik, who took his own life in 2022 after being harassed by his wife and in-laws. In both cases, the victims left behind detailed notes describing the emotional and mental torment they endured, underscoring the devastating impact of domestic abuse on men.
In Prafulla’s case, his suicide note revealed accusations from his wife and her family, including allegations of deception. The note also expressed a heartbreaking statement suggesting that his death would allow his wife to remarry and find happiness.
Based on a complaint filed by his father, Harishchandra Govind Kadam, the Vishrantwadi Police have registered a case against the three accused women under relevant sections of the IPC. Authorities are investigating the matter further to uncover the exact sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
This incident sheds light on the critical issue of domestic harassment faced by men, a topic often overlooked in societal discussions. Just as women need protection from abuse, men too require support and safe avenues to address such challenges.
