Pune: In a development, the Vishram Bagh Police Station in Pune has dismantled a burglary and two-wheeler theft ring, leading to the arrest of a key accused and solving seven related crimes across Pune district. The arrested individual, Mayur Anant Dere (35) from Kasba Peth, Pune, was apprehended following an intensive investigation involving technical analysis and confidential tips.
The case originated from an incident on 30th November 2024, when a complaint was lodged about the theft of a Bajaj CT 100 B motorcycle (MH 12 QJ 1144), stolen from outside Rebel Food, Cloud Kitchen, Shaniwar Peth, Pune, during the early morning hours. Acting on the complaint, Senior Police Inspector Vijaymala Pawar initiated a detailed investigation, spearheaded by Sub-Inspector Manoj Barure.
Utilizing technical surveillance and intelligence gathering, the police team identified Dere as the prime suspect. The investigation uncovered his involvement in multiple thefts and burglaries in both Pune city and rural areas. The police successfully recovered stolen property valued at Rs. 2,23,000, including three motorcycles, two televisions, two mobile phones, and one HP laptop.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandip Singh Gill, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sainath Thombare.
Senior Inspector Vijaymala Pawar, Crime Inspector Arun Ghodke, and Deputy Inspector Manoj Barure, along with officers Ashok Mane, Mayur Bhosale, Sachin Kadam, Ganesh Kathe, Ashish Kharat, Arjun Thorat, and constables Rahul More, Shiva Gaikwad, Anish Sheikh, Satappa Patil, Santosh Sherkhane, Nitin Babar, and Sagar More, played a crucial role in successfully cracking the case.
