Pune: In a significant move against the city’s drug network, Pune Police’s Narcotics Cell arrested four individuals on April 30 in connection with the sale of Ganja at two key locations — Pune Railway Station and Wakdewadi bus stand. The arrests were made in two separate operations carried out by the anti-narcotics squad.

The accused have been identified as Pappu Devri (32) and Chandan Kunwar (29), both residents of Odisha, along with Rakesh Pawra (25) and a minor from Dhule district.

The first operation was launched following a tip-off during a routine patrol near Pune Railway Station. Acting promptly, the police detained Pappu and Chandan and confiscated 30 kilograms of Ganja from their possession. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth ₹6.24 lakh.

In a second, similar operation, the squad intercepted two more suspects at Wakdewadi bus stand, based on intelligence received. This raid led to the recovery of 34 kilograms of Ganja valued at approximately ₹7.4 lakh.

Senior Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad of the Narcotics Cell confirmed the arrests and stated that further investigation is ongoing. Authorities are now working to identify additional individuals linked to the broader drug distribution network.

All suspects have been booked under the appropriate provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police officials emphasized their continued commitment to tackling the illegal drug trade across Pune.
