Pune: On June 15, 2025, the Pune Crime Branch’s Unit-2 successfully apprehended three suspects in the Katraj area in connection with illegal possession of firearms. The arrested individuals were found carrying country-made pistols along with live ammunition.
The accused are identified as Aniket Sanjay Malpote, aged 22, from Sutar Dara, Dattanagar, Kothrud, who has a prior criminal record; Gaurav Ganesh Telange, 19, residing in Shivajinagar near the Railway Station; and 19-year-old Nikhil Mukesh Tusam from Yerwai Road, Kelewadi, Kothrud.
Under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Pratap Mankar, the police confiscated three homemade pistols, two additional magazines, nine live bullets, three mobile phones, and a Honda Activa scooter. The combined value of the recovered items is approximately ₹2,99,000.
Following the arrest, the police have registered a case under the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station against the trio.
