Pune: In a disturbing incident on the Mumbai-Goa Highway, a 33-year-old tourist from Pune was allegedly assaulted by hotel owners and staff following a disagreement over tea quality.
Rupesh Baban Sakpal, a resident of Katraj, Pune, stopped at a hotel near Zarap Zero Point for tea on Thursday. Upon discovering a fly in his cup, he politely requested a replacement. The situation escalated into a heated argument, which soon turned violent.
The hotel owners and staff reportedly tied Sakpal’s hands and legs before brutally assaulting him on the roadside. Authorities have registered a case against six suspects: Tanveer Karamat Sheikh, Sharafat Abbas Sheikh, Abbas alias Sahil Sharafat Sheikh, Parveen Sharafat Sheikh, Sajmeen Sharafat Sheikh, and Talah Karamat Sheikh.
The police are conducting further investigations into the incident to ensure appropriate legal action is taken.
