Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Pune as the city braces for thunderstorms and rainfall between April 1 and 4. While the rain is expected to provide some relief from the intense heat, the summer conditions are set to continue, with temperatures staying above 35 degrees Celsius.
The IMD predicts fluctuating weather patterns over the next week, including thunderstorms, intermittent rainfall, and rising temperatures. The rain from April 1 to 4 will slightly reduce temperatures from a high of 38°C to around 36°C. On April 5, additional rain or thundershowers are likely, while April 6 is expected to bring partly cloudy skies and a temperature rise back to 38°C.
Although the rainfall will offer brief respite, the typical summer heat will persist, with temperatures hovering between 35°C and 37°C. The high daytime heat combined with fluctuating humidity levels will create warm, dry conditions typical for early April.
With unpredictable weather changes, residents are urged to take precautionary measures, such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and preparing for rapid shifts in temperature to minimize health risks associated with extreme weather conditions.
