Pune: A tragic incident unfolded in Ahilya Nagar district, where a young man was brutally assaulted and poisoned to death by a woman and her associates, allegedly over an offensive Instagram message he had sent to her sister. The victim, identified as Sainath Gorakshnath Kakade, and the primary accused, Rupali Sanjay Londhe, were cousins.
The attack took place on May 10 at Kokamthan Shivar, located in the Kopargaon taluka of Ahilyanagar. According to a police complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Mahesh, both Sainath and Rupali resided in different parts of Pune. It was revealed that Sainath had sent a derogatory message to Rupali’s sister on Instagram, which led to a confrontation. Feeling deeply offended, Rupali, along with her cousin brothers Anil Sanjay Londhe, Dinesh Vitthal Asane, Pawan Kailas Asane, and Rahul Ashok Chander, forcibly dragged Sainath from his home, shoved him into a car, and transported him to Ahilyanagar.
Upon reaching their destination, Sainath was mercilessly beaten and poisoned. Once they realized his health was rapidly deteriorating, the group rushed him to the Super Hospital in Shirdi. However, medical staff declared him dead on arrival.
The news of his death quickly spread, and a crowd gathered at the hospital, becoming agitated and causing a tense situation. Police intervened promptly to control the situation. A case has been filed against the five accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, including charges related to assault and murder. Senior police officials are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic death.
