Pune: In a major step toward transforming primary education, the Pune Zilla Parishad is set to roll out the ambitious ‘Pune Model School’ program on June 14, 2025. The initiative will be officially inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. Joining him at the event will be Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore and School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse.
Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the initiative will be implemented in 303 Zilla Parishad-run primary schools, one in each of the 303 centers across the Pune district. The program is designed to bring comprehensive improvements to both the academic environment and physical infrastructure of these schools.
Key elements of the initiative include the integration of modern technology into classrooms through the establishment of STEM labs, computer centers, and coding instruction. Students will also be offered foreign language courses such as French and German, aiming to broaden their international awareness and skill sets.
The project will be powered by contributions through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) channels, ensuring the development of advanced facilities while keeping education free and accessible. It aims to provide high-quality learning experiences and equal educational opportunities for every student.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Gajanan Patil, Chief Executive Officer of the Pune Zilla Parishad, emphasized that the Pune Model School project marks a transformative step toward a brighter future for students in rural areas.
