A hearing in the Rahul Gandhi Defamation case took an unexpected and dramatic turn inside the Pune special court on Thursday. The case, linked to the alleged insult of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, has been under legal scrutiny for months. However, the situation escalated sharply when the sealed CD submitted as the primary evidence was played.
Blank CD Shocks the Courtroom
The sealed disc, which was claimed to contain Rahul Gandhi’s alleged speech against Savarkar, turned out to be completely blank. As soon as the disc failed to show any content, shock and confusion spread across the courtroom.
Complainant Raises Serious Objections
Complainant Satyaki Savarkar lodged a strong objection, stating that the same CD had earlier been submitted as authenticated evidence. According to him, the disc originally contained a recording of Rahul Gandhi’s remarks made during an overseas event. He argued that the court had initiated proceedings based on this very CD, raising serious questions about how it turned blank.
Missing Evidence Deepens Suspicion
Adding to the intensity, Satyaki Savarkar further claimed that other CDs stored in the court’s custody had also gone missing. This raised doubts about the handling and safety of evidence. The complainant demanded an independent inquiry into the disappearance. Notably, the sealed CD had earlier been accepted by the court as primary evidence and even formed the basis for issuing summons to Rahul Gandhi.

During the hearing, the complainant urged the court to accept an online link as supplementary evidence in the Rahul Gandhi Defamation case. However, the court clearly rejected the request, insisting on proper physical proof. As a result, the hearing was adjourned until new evidence is submitted.
2019 Speech Back in Debate
The controversy stems from a 2019 overseas event where Rahul Gandhi allegedly made objectionable remarks about Savarkar. A recording of that speech was claimed to be stored in the disputed CD. With the disc blank and additional material missing, the Rahul Gandhi Defamation case has become even more complicated.

After these developments, public attention has sharply shifted to the next hearing. The court’s forthcoming decision is awaited with rising anticipation, as the missing evidence has cast a deep shadow over the entire case.
