Pune: A violent attack on January 25th has left real estate developer Vijay Raundal fearing for his life and the safety of his family. Raundal, who was allegedly assaulted by Baburao Chandere, has expressed deep concern over the lack of serious charges against the attacker.

Raundal’s office manager, Prashant Jadhav, filed an FIR with Bavdhan police following the incident, which has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023, including voluntary hurt, criminal intimidation, and assault.
Raundal explained that his long-standing dispute with Chandere dates back to 1996 when he purchased land from Chandere’s uncle. Although the two had exchanged words over the years, Raundal never anticipated that the situation would escalate to such a violent attack.

“The day before the attack, there was a cricket match organized by Chandere, followed by local protests against him. The next day, I received a call that he had trespassed on my property with a JCB machine,” Raundal said.

Upon arriving at the scene, Raundal found more than 10 people on his land, attempting to set up a line. “I had repeatedly asked them to conduct a land measurement, but my requests were ignored,” he added. When Chandere arrived, he allegedly began verbally abusing Raundal, threw him to the ground, and struck him with a stone, causing head injuries. Raundal claims his phone was taken and thrown, and the driver’s phone was also seized when they noticed it was recording the attack. Chandere allegedly threatened to kill Raundal and even asked his men to retrieve a firearm from his car. Raundal, who recently underwent heart surgery, said Chandere showed no mercy.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Raundal stated that the police have not taken sufficient action. “I’m demanding justice. If this isn’t addressed, I might leave my building business, as this attack has left me terrified of how land can be taken through force and illegal methods. If no action is taken, I will seek legal recourse and approach the court,” Raundal said.

A police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the police had registered the case based on medical reports and evidence. “If necessary, we will add more charges. Chandere is currently on the run after the incident,” the officer stated.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of real estate developers in the area and the handling of such violent attacks.
