Pimpri Chinchwad: A viral video capturing two Mahindra Thar vehicles performing hazardous drifting stunts in the Ravet area of Pimpri-Chinchwad has sparked outrage among local residents and prompted a police probe. The incident took place on an open ground owned by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, where the stunts created large dust clouds and loud noise, alarming nearby citizens.
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows the SUVs maneuvering dangerously on the municipal ground, raising serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement in the area. The incident bears similarities to a recent case in Pune’s Wagholi, where high-speed racing involving Thar and Scorpio vehicles inside a residential society led to police intervention after residents were reportedly threatened.
In the Ravet case, police only became aware of the activity after the video gained traction online. Many locals have expressed frustration, stating that such violations of traffic norms and public endangerment are becoming increasingly common in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Senior Police Inspector Nitin Fhatangare from Ravet Police Station confirmed that the incident occurred on the ground near D-Mart. Authorities are currently identifying the individuals involved and have assured that a case will be registered with strict legal action to follow.
The video has reignited concerns about growing lawlessness and reckless driving culture in the region, prompting demands for tighter surveillance and stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
