Pune: Harassment incidents targeting women and girls continue to rise across Pune and its suburbs, with miscreants increasingly emboldened in public spaces. In a disturbing case reported from the Kalyas area of Vishrantwadi, a woman was allegedly molested in broad daylight by a repeat offender and two of his accomplices.

The Vishrantwadi Police have registered a case against the primary accused, identified as Sanket Sawant (28), a resident of Yog Society, Kalyas, Alandi Road, Vishrantwadi, and his two associates.

According to the police, the incident took place while the victim, a resident of Vishrantwadi, was walking to visit relatives in the Kalyas area. She was reportedly followed and harassed by three young men on a two-wheeler. The main accused, Sanket Sawant, approached her and said, “I’m the boss of this area. You look very beautiful,” before proceeding to molest her in a busy public square. His accomplices also made vulgar remarks during the encounter.

Shocked and distressed by the incident, the woman immediately approached Vishrantwadi Police Station and filed a formal complaint. The police have since registered a case against the three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation is currently underway. Authorities have assured swift action and emphasized the importance of public vigilance in curbing such crimes.
