Pune: A concerning series of crimes against women, including domestic abuse, harassment, and molestation, have emerged in Pune, with four separate cases reported on February 15.
In the first case, a 42-year-old woman lodged a complaint at the Samarth police station against her 43-year-old husband. She accused him of misusing her salary, subjecting her to verbal and physical abuse, and inflicting mental and physical torment. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The second incident involves a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly harassed by a 31-year-old man at a bus stop on February 7. As per the complaint filed by the girl’s mother at the Airport police station, the accused presented the girl with a rose, forcibly held her hand, and acted in an obscene manner. He reportedly followed her onto a bus and continued his inappropriate behavior. The police have taken action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act, leading to the arrest of the accused.
In another case, a 27-year-old woman in Fursungi reported being harassed while on her way to buy vegetables on February 14 at approximately 6:45 am. The accused allegedly made inappropriate remarks, acted indecently, and touched her inappropriately. Authorities have registered a case and are pursuing further investigation.
The fourth case pertains to a 29-year-old woman who has filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of subjecting her to a decade-long ordeal of mental and physical torture between 2012 and 2022. She stated that they pressured her for money and expensive gifts from her family. Additionally, she alleged that her husband entered into a second marriage despite their existing marital status.
These incidents highlight the urgent need for stringent measures to ensure women’s safety and address crimes against them effectively.
