Pune: On February 25, 2025, Shiv Sena Shinde faction workers in Pune organized a protest at Alka Chowk to condemn remarks made by Shiv Sena Thackeray faction leader, Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut, against Deputy Speaker Dr. Neelam Gorhe.
Under the leadership of city chief Nana Bhange, the protesters expressed their disapproval by throwing shoes at photographs of Raut.
Bhange stated that Raut’s comments were objectionable and insulted not only Dr. Gorhe but also women across Maharashtra. He warned that if Raut continues such statements, more intense protests would be organized.
He further alleged that during his tenure as a corporator in the Pune Municipal Corporation, Raut had demanded ₹25 lakh through district contact leader Bala Kadam to secure a position on the Standing Committee.
Bhange emphasized his extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the previous Shiv Sena and hinted at revealing more details about Raut’s alleged financial demands in the near future.
This protest follows Dr. Gorhe’s controversial statement at the 98th All India Marathi Literary Conference in Delhi, where she claimed that in the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, one had to provide two Mercedes cars to receive a position.
In response, Shiv Sena Thackeray faction workers had previously staged a protest outside Dr. Gorhe’s residence in Pune’s Model Colony area.
