Pune: A singer was critically injured in an accident on December 21st at around 4:30 PM while heading towards Shankar Maharaj Math. As the individual crossed Shankar Maharaj Bridge, they were unexpectedly struck by a kite string (manja), causing them to feel suffocated. In an attempt to remove their scarf, they discovered blood covering their hands, with both their scarf and top soaked in it.
A nearby passerby came to the singer’s aid and quickly rushed them to Bharti Hospital. Upon examination, doctors determined that the kite string had severed a main nerve in the singer’s neck, resulting in heavy bleeding. The singer was promptly taken into surgery, which was completed successfully within two hours. The procedure required 12 to 13 stitches—8 on the exterior and 3 to 4 internally.
The singer spent the next 3 to 4 days in the ICU under observation. Fortunately, the injuries did not affect their vocal cords or essential respiratory and digestive pathways. Despite the severity of the injury, the singer expressed deep regret but remains optimistic about their recovery.
