Pune: NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule has appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to establish a dedicated authority to manage infrastructure concerns surrounding the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjawadi, Pune.

Recognized as one of the most prominent IT hubs in western Pune, Rajiv Gandhi IT Park accommodates numerous IT and IT-enabled service companies, as well as other businesses, and provides employment to hundreds of professionals.

In a letter sent on Friday, Sule noted that despite the park’s global reputation and its status as a major center for IT activity, there is no single dedicated agency to look after its infrastructure requirements.

She pointed out the delays that occur in resolving such matters in Hinjawadi, Maan, and Marunji, with residents often forced to chase up multiple bodies — including MIDC, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, Mahavitaran, Metro, and the Police — to address issues. Since many of these problems overlap, resolving them is often a lengthy and complicated process.

“To spare citizens these difficulties, there is a pressing need to set up an independent authority that will cover the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park as well as surrounding areas like Hinjawadi, Maan, and Marunji,” Sule stated.

She further proposed that a competent official be appointed to lead this new authority. According to Sule, this would streamline grievance redressal and ensure that issues are attended to promptly. She urged the Chief Minister to take swift and serious action on this proposal.
