Pune: The controversy surrounding Tanisha Bhise’s death has taken a new turn as the Bhise family has filed a police complaint against Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, accusing it of defamation and breach of privacy. The family alleges that the hospital publicly disclosed Tanisha’s private medical information under the guise of an internal committee report.
According to the complaint lodged at Alankar Police Chowki, the Bhise family claims that the report revealed sensitive details about Tanisha’s IVF treatment, which led to online trolling and raised numerous questions, adding to their emotional distress. They have demanded strict action against the doctors responsible for making this information public.
The internal report bears signatures of key hospital authorities including Medical Director Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Anuja Joshi, ICU Head Dr. Sameer Jog, Administrator Sachin Vyavahare, and former doctor Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas, who has since resigned. The family has urged the police to take legal action against all involved.
In a significant development, the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission has also intervened, directing the Pune Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Medical Council to take immediate action in the case. Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar shared the update on Twitter, stating that the internal investigation report was released without the family’s consent, violating their privacy and causing mental agony.
Savita Bhise, mother of the deceased, had lodged a complaint with the commission, citing the unauthorized disclosure of Tanisha’s personal medical records. Acting on this, the commission has ordered an urgent inquiry and asked for a detailed action report to be submitted at the earliest.
These developments have further intensified the scrutiny on Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, which is already under pressure following other controversies in recent weeks.
