Mumbai: MLA Nilesh Rane has strongly condemned the Swargate rape incident and urged Maharashtra Chief Minister to reinstate the encounter squad to deal with such criminals.
Expressing his anger, Rane stated, “People who harbor such criminal thoughts have no place in society. That is why I am requesting the Chief Minister to bring back the encounter squad. We need to train a few encounter specialists, impose certain restrictions on them, but ensure that such people do not remain in society. Once they are released from jail, they will commit the same crimes again.”
Rane further emphasized, “We have always said that there was an encounter squad a few years ago. It is now time to bring it back. These criminals will not reform unless encounters take place. Until they fear for their lives, they will continue committing such heinous crimes. They have no sense of fear, and many are under the influence of substances.”
Calling the incident “extremely unfortunate,” Rane expressed confidence that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would take the necessary action. However, he stressed the need for strict punishments to prevent such incidents in the future. “There is no other way to cleanse society of such filth,” he added.
