Pune: Just a day after its inauguration on May 1, the newly opened bridge on Sinhagad Road witnessed a severe traffic jam, raising concerns over its readiness to handle peak-hour congestion. In response, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil visited the site today for an on-ground inspection.
During his visit, Patil reviewed the traffic situation and discussed measures to ensure smoother vehicle movement. Key solutions under consideration include extending the traffic signal duration, removing encroachments along the bridge edges, and reducing the width of the footpath to allow for better traffic flow.
The inspection was followed by a detailed discussion with local officials, with assurances given that all necessary corrective actions would be implemented soon to avoid a repeat of such gridlocks.
Local leaders from the Shiv Sena and the Maha Vikas Aghadi were present during the review and offered their cooperation in resolving the issue.
Authorities have assured citizens that traffic regulation around the new bridge will be strengthened in the coming days to prevent further inconvenience to commuters.
