Pimpri Chinchwad: Ahead of the highly anticipated T20 cricket match between India and England at Gahunje Stadium on January 31, significant traffic arrangements and security measures have been implemented to manage the expected large influx of spectators and private vehicles. These changes will be in effect from 3 PM to midnight.
To avoid traffic congestion, Traffic Deputy Commissioner Bapu Bangar has issued orders for diversions, with vehicles holding VVIP, VIP, or essential service passes allowed to use the right-side service road of the expressway to reach the stadium.
Traffic Diversions for Spectators:
For vehicles coming from Mumbai:
Turn left at the road exit of the expressway, then take another left to use the service road near Mamurdi, heading toward the stadium and parking area.
Alternatively, vehicles on the expressway can take a U-turn at Mukai Chowk via Kiwale Bridge and proceed toward the stadium via the service road near Symbiosis College.
For vehicles coming from the old Mumbai-Pune Highway:
Vehicles should take a U-turn at Central Chowk and proceed toward the parking area via Sai Nagar Phata.
Vehicles coming from Somatane Phata and Central Chowk must take the underpass and use the road near Mamurdi Check Post. Entry into Mamurdi village via Shitaladevi Temple will be prohibited.
For vehicles coming from Pune:
Vehicles on the Bangalore Highway should turn left at Kiwale Bridge and proceed via the service road to the stadium and parking area.
Spectator vehicles from Nigdi and Hanging Bridge should use the route via Ravet Chowk, Bhondve Chowk, Mukai Chowk, and Krishna Chowk, then turn right back toward the stadium using the service road.
Only cars with passes and essential service vehicles will be allowed access from Gahunje Bridge to Y Junction toward the stadium.
Restricted Areas:
Vehicles are prohibited from entering the road between Ruhiz Biryani and Masulkar Farm in Mamurdi village. The alternative route is Mamurdi Check Post Road.
Entry is restricted from Marimata Chowk to Kivale Nala towards Masulkar Farm. The alternative route is via Krishna Chowk Road.
After the match, access from Mukai Chowk Bus Stop to Kivale Underpass toward Mumbai will be closed. Vehicles can use the alternative route via Sameer Lawns.
Security and Parking:
A robust police presence has been deployed for crowd control and security, including over 450 police personnel, two Deputy Commissioners, three Assistant Commissioners, 20 Police Inspectors, and 55 Sub-Inspectors.
Twelve designated parking slots have been arranged for cricket fans attending the match. Spectators are advised not to bring water bottles, banners, bags, or purses, as these items will not be allowed inside the stadium.
Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Rayannavar of Talegaon Dabhade Police Station has urged cricket fans to follow the traffic guidelines and security protocols to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience during the match.
