Pune: Two mobile phone thefts were reported at the Wakdewadi State Transport (ST) bus stand over the weekend, leading to the registration of separate FIRs by Khadki Police. The incidents involved one theft at knifepoint and another in a crowded bus boarding scenario.
The first incident occurred on Saturday, April 12, when 25-year-old Rahul Jalindar Kasar from Gokhalenagar was approached by two unknown men around 6:30 PM. The assailants allegedly threatened Rahul with a knife and stole his iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh. Rahul, who had visited the bus stand for personal reasons, filed a complaint with the Khadki Police Station following the robbery. Authorities have launched a search for the suspects involved.
In a second incident, a 20-year-old woman was targeted by a pickpocket while boarding a bus on Sunday, April 13. The thief stole her mobile phone, valued at ₹28,500, as she joined the crowd to board the bus. The woman later reported the theft to Khadki Police, and investigations are ongoing.
Both cases are under investigation by Police Sub-Inspector Digvijay Chougle. The Khadki police are working to identify the culprits and have urged the public to remain vigilant, especially in crowded spaces such as bus stands.
The recent incidents have raised concerns about commuter safety at transport hubs, with calls for enhanced security measures to prevent such crimes in the future.
