Pune: The Ambegaon Police have arrested two repeat offenders involved in multiple thefts across the city, including a recent housebreaking incident in Ambegaon. Acting on a tip-off, a dedicated team led by police officers Pohwa Hanmant Masal and Chetan Gore cracked four criminal cases and recovered stolen items valued at ₹4.66 lakh.

The breakthrough came after a burglary reported around 3 a.m. on March 16, 2025, at the residence of a 67-year-old man named Takradar in Santoshmata Mandir, Tirupati Colony, Ambegaon. The suspects, identified as Ayush Sanjay Kharat (20) of Sukhsagar Nagar and Aryan Kailas Aglave (19) of Gokulnagar, were taken into custody shortly after.

Further investigation revealed their involvement in the following cases:

Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station Case Nos. 197/2025 and 1075/2025 – Sections 305, 331(3), (4), and 303(2)

Market Yard Police Station Case No. 69/2025 – Section 303(2)

The police recovered a significant amount of stolen property, including 22 grams of gold jewelry, four laptops, a motorcycle, and a rickshaw, collectively worth ₹4.66 lakh. Notably, Aryan Aglave has prior criminal records and was already wanted in theft cases reported in Kondhwa and Market Yard.

The ongoing investigation is being overseen by Pouni Mohan Kalamkar and the Ambegaon Police Investigation Team. The successful operation has earned commendation from top police officials including Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil, and Deputy Commissioner Smartana Patil.
