Pune: A two-wheeler rider was injured after losing control of their bike and falling into an open drainage pit on a road in Narhe village, where drainage work is currently underway. The accident occurred as the rider, seeking an alternative route due to road closures caused by the construction, lost control of the bike. The rider sustained minor injuries and was rescued by local residents.
The drainage project, part of a ₹2 crore budget approved before the state assembly elections, had been delayed due to the election code of conduct. Work resumed recently, but road closures and traffic congestion in the area have caused difficulties for residents, leading them to take alternate routes, which resulted in the accident.
Local authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and follow alternate routes to avoid such incidents while the work continues.
