Lonavala: In a tragic incident, two young men drowned in the backwater area of the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala on Saturday. The victims have been identified as Sahil Sheikh and Mohammad Jamal.
According to preliminary information, the two had come to the scenic location to enjoy the monsoon season. However, they seemingly underestimated the depth and current of the water, leading to the fatal accident.
The Shivdurga Rescue Team of Lonavala responded swiftly and managed to retrieve both bodies from the water. Authorities have urged tourists to exercise caution and avoid entering unfamiliar water bodies during the monsoon due to sudden changes in water levels and strong undercurrents.
