Pune: Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol strongly reprimanded the Pune Police following a brutal attack on a software engineer by members of the Marne gang in the Kothrud area. He advised the police to introspect and take immediate action against such incidents.
Speaking on the issue, Mohol stated, “Two days ago, a shocking incident took place in Kothrud where software engineer Devendra Jog was assaulted. He is not associated with my office but is an active BJP worker. Whether it is Devendra or anyone else, such incidents should not happen in my city. If this is happening in Pune, it is completely unacceptable.”
Mohol further emphasized that while action has been taken against some individuals, if anyone is trying to shield the culprits, they too should face strict consequences. He questioned the Pune Police’s inaction regarding social media discussions on the issue and warned that if even police officers are being attacked, stronger measures must be taken. “We have informed the Pune Police Commissioner that such incidents will not be tolerated,” he added.
Referring to the controversial remarks made by actor Rahul Solapurkar about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mohol also criticized the Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, for stating that Solapurkar’s statement did not seem objectionable at first glance. Mohol demanded strict action against the actor, asserting that the remarks were offensive and should have been dealt with seriously.
The minister concluded by saying that the Home Minister has taken action in several cases, but it is now crucial for the Pune Police to act with utmost seriousness to ensure the safety and security of the city’s residents.
