Beed: Valmik Karad, the alleged mastermind in the murder case of Santosh Deshmukh, the Sarpanch of Massajog, has been hospitalized after experiencing sudden stomach pain. Karad, who was recently remanded to 14 days of judicial custody, was admitted to the Beed District Government Hospital late Wednesday night.
According to reports, Karad is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU. Medical examinations, including a sonography, as well as blood pressure and diabetes tests, have been conducted. He was transferred to the hospital from the Beed jail around 11:45 PM after he complained of severe discomfort.
Karad is one of nine accused booked under the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) in connection with the brutal murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh on December 9. Deshmukh’s murder is allegedly linked to an extortion racket. Previously, Karad had also been remanded in an extortion case.
A CCTV video from November 29, allegedly showing Karad with Sudarshan Ghule and Vishnu Chate at Chate’s office in Kej, has surfaced and is being considered a crucial piece of evidence. Suspended PSI Rajesh Patil of Kej Police Station was also reportedly seen in the footage with Karad and Ghule. This video is said to strengthen the extortion allegations against Karad.
Prominent figures, including Jitendra Awhad and Anjali Damania, have also commented on the case. The video allegedly connects Karad to demands made to a company named Avada on the same day.
Karad was presented before the Beed court via video conferencing before being remanded to judicial custody. He remains a key suspect in the high-profile murder case.
