Beed: In the high-profile murder case of Santosh Deshmukh, a sarpanch from Beed district, the CID has officially named Valmik Karad as the mastermind in its recently filed 1,800-page chargesheet.
Although Karad’s name had been linked to the case multiple times, no formal charges were filed against him earlier. However, the CID investigation has now confirmed that Deshmukh was murdered because he was an obstacle in Karad’s extortion racket.
The state government had assigned both the CID and SIT to investigate the case. According to the CID’s chargesheet, eight accused have been booked under the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act), including Karad. The report details the direct involvement of Valmik Karad, Sudarshan Ghule, and Vishnu Chate in planning and executing the murder.
The CID has also obtained video footage showing the accused assaulting Deshmukh, which has been included as evidence in the chargesheet. The investigation reveals that Karad had planned to extort ₹2 crore from a company named Avada, but Deshmukh stood in his way. To eliminate this hurdle, Karad conspired to have Deshmukh killed.
With substantial evidence in place, including recorded conversations among the accused on the day of the murder, the CID has built a strong case, exposing the entire murder conspiracy.
