Pune: A significant influx of vegetables and fruits at the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard on Sunday has led to a notable decrease in the wholesale prices of certain commodities, including green chillies, drumsticks (shevga), groundnut pods, and raw mangoes (kairi). Traders reported that while these items have seen price drops, the prices of other vegetables remained largely stable.

A total of 90 trucks carrying fruits and vegetables from various parts of Maharashtra and neighboring states such as Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh reached the market on Sunday. Among the items delivered, key vegetables included:

18–20 tempos of green chillies from Karnataka and Gujarat

While the prices of certain vegetables decreased, traders also noted an increase in the prices of methi (fenugreek) and dill leaves (shepu) compared to last week. Meanwhile, prices for spring onions and ambadi (sour greens) saw a decline, and the prices of leafy greens such as spinach, amaranth, mint, radish leaves, and colocasia leaves remained stable.
Sunday’s market also saw large arrivals of leafy greens, including:

1.25 lakh bunches of coriander

50,000 bunches of fenugreek

Wholesale prices for these leafy greens per 100 bunches were:

Coriander: ₹500–₹1,200

In the fruit market, a dip in prices was recorded for muskmelons and chikoos, while the prices of oranges and papayas saw an increase. However, the prices of lemons, pineapples, pomegranates, watermelons, sweet limes, and guavas remained stable.
