Pune: In a progressive move to foster social harmony and challenge caste-based barriers, the ‘Vicharvedh Association’ has introduced a series of new initiatives aimed at encouraging and supporting intercaste marriages. These plans were unveiled during a meeting held in Pune, chaired by renowned social activist Anand Karandikar.
The initiatives include dedicated counselling services and guidance for young individuals interested in intercaste marriages, along with financial advice and planning support. Additionally, programs to help couples connect, informative lectures, and the establishment of a ‘safe house’ for secure temporary accommodation have also been announced.
According to a press release issued in Pune by Sarita Awhad on behalf of the association, the core objective of these efforts is to dispel societal myths and biases surrounding intercaste unions and to provide a strong support system for those who choose to marry across caste lines.
Beyond helping individual couples, the initiatives are designed to promote broader social change by challenging deep-rooted prejudices and fostering a more inclusive society.
