Pune: In December 2024, serious crimes committed by repeat offenders within the jurisdiction of Warje Palas Police Station prompted newly appointed Senior Police Inspector Mr. Vishwajit Kaingde to take immediate action. A meeting was convened with Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Salunkhe of the Surveillance Department, along with officers Kiran Talekar and Vijay Khilari, to assess the crime situation and formulate a strategic response.
A list was prepared identifying dangerous criminals who, despite previous offenses, continued to terrorize localities including Ramnagar, Gokulnagar, and MHADA Colony. These individuals had been causing unrest and disturbing the peace repeatedly, prompting police to initiate regular foot patrols. Between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., teams of 3-4 officers along with 15-16 officials conducted extensive patrolling in narrow lanes of slums and urban sectors such as Karvenagar and MHADA Colony, documenting offenders and taking preventive actions.
In addition to visible patrolling, proposals for detention under the Maharashtra Public Security Act (MPDA) were prepared for key offenders and submitted to the Pune Police Commissioner. After thorough review, the Commissioner approved eight detention orders for notorious criminals, including Umesh Satpute (alias Ted), Gaurav Sanjay Shelke, Ganesh (alias Gudya) Anil Patekar, Omkar (alias Denya) Sudhakar Chaudhary, Yash Vijay Sashte, Abhishek Sharad Sonawane, and Nitin (alias Pappu) Laxman Padmakar — all residents within Warje limits and known for their past crimes.
A recent notable arrest was that of Piyush (alias Kanha) Satish Jadhav, wanted since his deportation by Alankar Police Station last year and missing for over a month. Thanks to the persistent efforts of the investigation team led by Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narle and supported by Police Constable Sanjeev Kalambe and other officers, Jadhav was apprehended near Warje Zakat Naka this morning. Following an official detention order, he was sent to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Jail for one year.
These concerted efforts, guided by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 03 Sambhaji Kadam, Assistant Commissioner Bhausaheb Patare, and Senior Police Inspector Kaingde, alongside the entire Warje Police team, aim to restore and maintain peace across the Warje area. Regular monitoring continues on 7 to 8 high-risk criminals, with MPDA actions ready to be taken as necessary.
Warje Police emphasizes that visible policing, timely preventive action, and strong legal measures will persist to ensure safety and justice for residents, while continuing to keep a vigilant watch over criminal activities in the region.
