Pune: In a shocking incident, a young woman conspired with her boyfriend to have her fiancé killed because he was becoming an obstacle to their love affair. The victim was severely beaten in the attack but survived. The Yavat police have arrested the boyfriend and accomplices, but the woman responsible for the murder attempt remains on the run.
A 28-year-old man filed a complaint with the Yavat Police Station. Based on his complaint, Aditya Shankar Dangde (19), Sandeep Dada Gavade (40), Shivaji Ramdas Jare (32), Indrabhanu Sakharm Kholpe (37), and Suraj Digambar Jadhav (36) were arrested. Mayuri Sunil Dangde (from Shrigonda, Ahmednagar) has been charged in the case but remains at large.
According to the police, the victim is a chef working in the Baner area. The victim was engaged to Mayuri, and their wedding was scheduled for March 12. However, on February 22, the victim received a threatening call stating, “Don’t marry Mayuri. We are going to get married, and there will be serious consequences if you do.” The victim informed Mayuri, her elder brother Pradeep, and Abhayraj Dangde about the threat. Mayuri denied any romantic involvement and assured him that he could investigate further if needed.
On February 27, Mayuri invited the victim to watch a movie at a theater in Hadapsar. After watching the movie, the victim dropped her at her relative’s house at Khamgaon Phata, then proceeded towards Pune. However, near Khamgaon Phata, the accused blocked his car and attacked him with wooden sticks. They threatened him, saying he wouldn’t be able to attend the wedding, before fleeing the scene in their vehicle. The injured victim received treatment at a private hospital and later filed a complaint with the Yavat Police Station on March 1. He also provided the vehicle number of the car used by the attackers.
Following the information provided by the victim, the police arrested Aditya Dangde. During further interrogation, Aditya revealed that Mayuri and her boyfriend Sandeep Gavade had paid him ₹1.5 lakh to kill the victim. Based on this information, the police arrested five individuals involved in the conspiracy.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Superintendent Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ganesh Birajdar, and Sub-Divisional Officer Bapurao Dadas. Yavat Police Inspector Narayan Deshmukh, Assistant Inspectors Mahesh Mane, Pravin Sapange, Sub-Inspector Kishore Waghj, Salim Sheikh, Maruti Metlawad, along with other officers, successfully executed the operation.
