Shirur: In a shocking incident, a young man was brutally murdered, his hands, feet, and head severed, and his body parts stuffed into separate sacks before being thrown into a well in Danewadi village, near the Shirur-Shrigonda border. The deceased has been identified as Mauli Satish Gawhane.
Mauli, a 12th-grade student, was killed in a gruesome manner, with his hands, feet, and head reportedly severed using an automatic cutter, commonly used for chopping trees. His torso was packed into one sack, while his head, hands, and feet were placed in another, along with large stones, before being dumped into a well near the river in Danewadi.
The horrifying crime came to light after the police discovered the dismembered body. Mauli’s relatives were called to identify the remains.
Mauli had his 12th-grade examination on March 7. He had left his home in Danewadi for Shirur to appear for the exam but never returned. His family reported him missing, and later, his body was found in a well near the village.
Taking serious note of the crime, the Ahilyanagar Superintendent of Police has transferred the investigation from Belwandi Police Station to the Ahilyanagar Crime Investigation Department for further probe.
