Pune: A 22-year-old youth, Ritik Manohar Nanavare, sustained serious injuries after being assaulted during Holi celebrations in the Sangamwadi area under the jurisdiction of Yerwada Police Station. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM when Nanavare confronted two youths who had forcefully applied color and broken an egg on his younger brother’s head.
According to reports, Rohit Nanavare (17) was passing through the Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area when the two accused confronted him. After learning about the incident, Ritik approached the duo to question their behavior. The confrontation escalated, and the accused—identified as Bablya and his friend—attacked Ritik with a sharp weapon and struck him in the stomach with a stone, leaving him seriously injured.
Ritik later approached the Yerwada Police Station to file a complaint but alleged that the police initially dismissed the matter, asking if he was there to “complain about a Rang Panchami dispute.” He further claimed that the police delayed registering his complaint.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against the two accused. The Yerwada Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
