Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken serious note of the delays in providing citizen services through the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal. Under the Right to Services Act, the state government has notified 1,027 services for citizens. However, only 527 of these services are currently available online.

In a high-level meeting of the Social Sector War Room held at the Mantralaya, the Chief Minister issued strict instructions to administrative heads that a fine of ₹1000 per day should be imposed on officials who delay the online implementation of services. He directed the Chief Secretary to immediately issue a circular in this regard.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal, tribal welfare schemes, government medical colleges, and the ‘Agristack’ initiative was undertaken. CM Fadnavis emphasized that delivering fast, transparent, and reliable services to citizens is the government’s responsibility.

He instructed that 138 integrated services must be made fully online by 31st May 2025, and the remaining 306 notified services must go live by 15th August 2025. The validation and certification of these services will be done by the MahaIT department.

Additionally, the proposal to revamp the system to allow citizens to access multiple welfare schemes through a single unified application was discussed. This would eliminate the need for citizens to visit multiple government offices.

The Chief Minister asserted, “Government services are not a favor—they are the rightful entitlement of every citizen. It is unacceptable that people should have to run from office to office for basic services.” He further urged all departments to work in mission mode to make Maharashtra the leading state in the country for digital governance by October 2025.

The Chief Minister’s bold and time-bound directive is expected to bring renewed urgency and accountability within the state’s administrative machinery. His commitment to transparent, digital-first governance continues to receive positive response from across the state.
