Shirur: A horrifying incident of gang rape has come to light in Karegaon, Shirur Taluka, where a 19-year-old migrant woman was allegedly assaulted by two men at knifepoint. The accused also robbed her of her gold ornaments before fleeing the scene. Police have arrested both suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Amol Narayan Pote (25), a resident of Sanskriti Developers, Pawar Building, Karegaon, originally from Dhokerai Phata, Shri Gonda, Ahilyanagar district, and Kishor Rambhau Kale (29), a resident of Sanskriti Developers, Lane No. 1, Karegaon, originally from Kille Dharur, Dharur Taluka, Beed district.
The survivor had arrived at her sister’s place just four days before the incident. On the night of March 1, she was sitting and chatting with her 20-year-old cousin near their residence in Karegaon. Around 11 PM, two men arrived on a motorcycle and threatened them at knifepoint.
The accused allegedly forced the woman and her cousin to engage in intimate acts, recording the incident on their mobile phones. Using this footage as leverage, they took the cousin away from the scene, and one of the men raped the woman. Later, the second accused was called to the location, and he also sexually assaulted her, threatening to bring more people if she resisted.
After the assault, the survivor confided in her sister, who, along with her husband, immediately reported the incident by calling the police emergency number 112. The Ranjangaon MIDC Police responded swiftly, ensuring that the survivor received medical attention. Following an investigation, the accused Amol Narayan Pote and Kishor Rambhau Kale were taken into custody.
