A tragic fire incident at Shanshree Suvarn Yuga Society in Kondhwa Khurd, Pune, claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman and left two others injured. The fire broke out around 9 p.m. when a curtain caught fire from a lit diya, causing the AC compressor to explode.
The deceased, identified as Vrinda Sangviwar (65), was rushed to Sassoon Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Two other victims, Manoj Borkar (75) and an unidentified person, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at Command Hospital and Sassoon Hospital, respectively.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire brigade was promptly alerted and managed to bring the blaze under control. Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire.
