Pune: Two men were apprehended by Kondhwa police for attempting to rob and assault a 22-year-old chef with a firearm. The arrested individuals have been identified as Tabrez alias Parvez Munir Sheikh (22) and Ramzan Abbas Patel (24), both residents of Kondhwa.
The incident occurred around 4 am on February 15 near Maurya Housing Society on NIBM Road when the victim, originally from Bihar and employed at a local restaurant, was on his way to work.
According to the police, the accused approached him on a two-wheeler and held a gun to his head while attempting to rob him. However, the chef resisted, leading to a struggle during which he managed to snatch the firearm from the attackers. In the scuffle, his shirt was torn, and the assailants also tried to steal his mobile phone.
Following the incident, the victim rushed home and informed his senior chef, who then contacted the police. Senior officials, including Assistant Commissioner of Police Dhanyakumar Godse and Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, arrived at the scene for investigation. Authorities later confirmed that the weapon used in the attack was a shotgun.
The accused were subsequently arrested, and further investigation is underway.
