Pune: In a swift operation, the Kale Padal police successfully apprehended a notorious juvenile thief after a chase. During the investigation, four two-wheeler thefts and one house burglary came to light. The police seized stolen property worth ₹1.92 lakh from the juvenile.
The accused, a 16-year-old repeat offender, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by Praveen Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Handewadi Road, Hadapsar, at the Kale Padal police station.
According to the police, complainant Agarwal had parked his two-wheeler in Kad Nagar, Undri, on March 14. The next day, he discovered that his vehicle was missing and subsequently lodged a theft complaint at Kale Padal police station.
During a late-night patrol between 4:30 and 5:00 AM, police officers Laxman Kale and Vishal Thombre noticed a person pushing a two-wheeler suspiciously. When they stopped him for questioning, he attempted to flee. The officers chased him down and brought him to the police station along with the vehicle.
Upon further investigation by Assistant Police Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad, it was revealed that the minor was a habitual offender. Police constable Pravin Kalbhor is conducting further inquiries.
During questioning, the juvenile confessed to stealing four two-wheelers from areas under Kale Padal, Hadapsar, Wanwadi, and Kondhwa police jurisdictions. Additionally, he was found to be involved in a burglary within the Kale Padal police station limits.
Following his statement, police recovered stolen vehicles and property worth ₹1.92 lakh from his hiding spots. Officials revealed that the minor was using the stolen bikes for committing thefts and personal enjoyment.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner Dnyaneshwar Godse, and Senior Inspector Mansing Patil. The investigating team included Police Inspector (Crime) Amar Kalange, Assistant Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad, Amit Shete, and constables Laxman Kale, Vishal Thombre, Pangarkar, Saddam Tamboli, Dawood Sayyed, and Shahid Shaikh.
