Pune: In a major breakthrough against organized crime, Pune Crime Branch Unit 6 has successfully dismantled a gang involved in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts across the city. The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including a minor, and the recovery of stolen goods worth ₹14.31 lakh.
Following a thorough investigation, police apprehended the suspects linked to numerous theft cases reported at different police stations. The arrested individuals have been identified as Prithviraj alias Sahil Santosh Awad (19) – Resident of Fursungi, Anand Uttareshwar Londhe (34), Aryan Kailas Aglave (18), Kuldeep Ganpat Sonwane (19), and a 17-year-old minor
The gang was found to be involved in multiple cases of burglary and vehicle thefts, with incidents registered at Alankar, Chatushrungi (Baner), Hadapsar, and Lonikand Police Stations.
During the operation, Pune Crime Branch seized valuables worth ₹14.31 lakh, which included 129 grams of gold jewelry and bars, 2 kg of silver bricks valued at ₹11,91,920, and four stolen motorcycles worth ₹2,40,000. The recovered items and detained suspects have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
This successful crackdown was led by senior officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balakwade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Rajendra Mulik. The operation was executed under the leadership of Police Inspector Wahid Pathan, along with a dedicated team of officers, including Madan Kamble, Ramakrishna Dalvi, Balasaheb Sakte, Ramesh Memane, Nitin Mundhe, Kanifnath Karkhele, Suhas Tambekar, Rishikesh Takwane, Sachin Pawar, Shekhar Kate, Ganesh Dongre, and Sameer Pilane, among others.
Pune Police have ramped up efforts to curb organized crime and theft in the city. Authorities urge citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to ensure public safety.
