Pune: Daund city was shaken by a horrifying revelation when 10 to 12 newborn infants were discovered discarded in plastic containers and dumped in the garbage in Boravke Nagar. The shocking incident has sparked outrage, prompting an immediate police investigation.
Authorities were alerted to the situation on Tuesday, following which a police team, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bapurao Dadas, Assistant Police Inspector Nagnath Patil, and Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Ghodke, rushed to the scene. Medical professionals from the sub-district hospital were also called in to examine the remains.
Initial findings suggest the possible involvement of an illegal abortion center operating in the area. Investigators are currently collecting evidence to track down those responsible for this appalling crime.
The incident has drawn strong reactions from political leaders, including Baramati MP Supriya Sule, who condemned the act on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“The discovery of newborns discarded in the garbage in Boravke Nagar, near Daund city, is a heinous crime. An immediate and thorough investigation is necessary, and those responsible must be brought to justice. I urge the Pune District Collector to personally intervene and ensure strict action is taken.”
The Daund police have intensified their probe and are working to uncover the origins of the abandoned infants. Authorities are determined to bring those behind this disturbing crime to justice, and further updates on the case are expected soon.
