Pune: A couple from Bhosari, Pune, who had recently traveled to Phuket, Thailand, for a vacation, met with a serious accident while playing on a swing. Upon learning about the incident, Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol took immediate steps to bring them back to India for medical treatment. Thanks to his prompt intervention, the couple is now undergoing successful treatment in Pune.
Two couples had traveled to Phuket for a vacation and were staying at Amritsar Restaurant near Kalim Beach. On the second day of their trip, one couple, Shubham Fuge (27) and his wife Siddhi (21), were playing on a swing when they lost balance and fell from a height of about 10 feet, sustaining severe injuries.
They were immediately rushed to Patong Hospital, where doctors diagnosed Shubham with a fractured thigh bone and Siddhi with a spinal fracture. However, they were only given painkillers, and surgery was necessary at the earliest. Given their critical condition, they needed to be brought back to India urgently.
Speaking about the incident, Union Minister Mohol stated, “I was informed about this incident by one of my workers, and realizing the seriousness of the situation, I immediately activated all necessary channels. Since both patients were unable to sit upright in a regular aircraft seat, they required a stretcher arrangement on the flight, which involved multiple approvals from doctors and airlines. Additionally, seats had to be removed to make space for the stretcher.”
He added, “With the support of the Ministry of External Affairs and my office, we worked tirelessly to bring them back. Along with Shubham and Siddhi, their friends Abhijeet Pathare and Kajal More also had to be brought back quickly. Finally, after immense efforts, we managed to arrange their return on two separate IndiGo Airlines flights. Upon their arrival in Pune, they were immediately admitted to Sancheti Hospital for surgery.”
Mohol emphasized that many people face difficulties while traveling abroad, and immediate action is often required in such situations. “I consider it my duty to extend a helping hand to those in need. Our government departments always respond with sensitivity in such cases, ensuring timely assistance to those who require it,” he said.
