Baramati | Special Correspondent

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has expressed strong displeasure over people seeking leniency for wrongdoers, saying, “Someone commits a crime and then comes to me saying, ‘Dada, please swallow it.’ What do you mean, swallow it? My stomach is already bursting! Those who make such calls should feel ashamed.”

Speaking at an event in Baramati, Pawar was visibly upset over a recent incident of violence that went viral on social media. The video showed four youths arriving on two motorbikes and brutally assaulting a man using belts, kicks, and punches. “Even if the person involved is the son of one of my closest workers, I won’t spare him. If he continues committing crimes, I will not hesitate to invoke MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act),” warned Pawar.

Referring to recent misbehaviour in public places, Pawar said, “We are doing development work in Baramati, but some people are acting irresponsibly. One person parked his vehicle on the footpath just to sit and chat. I’ve asked the police to seize such vehicles.”

He further announced that a special police vehicle will be deployed to monitor public areas like one-way roads, parking zones, and gardens. “No public wrongdoing will be tolerated. If someone has done wrong, there’s a legal process—file a complaint with the police. But if anyone takes the law into their own hands, I won’t hold back from applying MCOCA,” Pawar asserted.

He concluded by making it clear: “No matter how close someone is to me, they won’t be forgiven if they are involved in illegal activities.”
