Pune: A case has been registered at Nanded City Police Station against several security guards of Nanded City Township after they allegedly assaulted a woman and her son during a dispute over a missing vehicle sticker.

The incident occurred around 4:30 PM at the main gate of the society, as per the complaint filed by Prerna Prafull Sonkawade, a 42-year-old homemaker who resides within the township. The altercation began when her husband, Prafull Sonkawade (52), was stopped by the security staff for not displaying the required vehicle sticker.

The situation reportedly escalated, and when Prerna and her 22-year-old son, Omkar Sonkawade, stepped in to resolve the matter, they were allegedly assaulted by a group of 8 to 10 security personnel. Among the accused are a female security guard in a blue shirt and pants, identified only as Ashwini, and a male guard in a blue safari suit, known as “Nevarkar.” The full identities and addresses of the accused are yet to be disclosed.

Following the assault, Prerna sought medical treatment at Sassoon Hospital before reporting the incident to the police. Based on her statement, a case has been filed under sections 115(2), 352, 189(1)(2), 190, and 191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The complainant and her son sustained injuries, though no weapons were involved in the assault. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify all individuals involved.
Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Jadhav is leading the investigation. Senior officials, including ACP Ajay Parmar, Senior PI Atul Bhose, and other officers from Nanded City Police Station, visited the scene between 6:40 PM and 9:10 PM on April 8.

Police confirmed that CCTV footage from the incident is available and will be reviewed as part of the investigation. No arrests have been made yet, and the backgrounds of the accused are being investigated.
