Pune: Sahkarnagar police have arrested two men for the abduction and extortion of a woman with the intent of demanding ransom. The incident occurred on April 6, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, when the woman, a resident of Wagholi, took a cab to reach the gate of Housing Society.
According to reports, the two suspects, identified as Mahesh Mohan Raskar (27) and Kiran Bhausaheb Dhagae (27), chased the victim from Wagholi in a four-wheeler. They stopped her at the society gate and forcibly dragged her into their car. Once inside, the men physically assaulted the woman and threatened to harm her wife, demanding the victim’s mobile phone password.
During the course of the abduction, the suspects coerced the woman into transferring Rs. 1,400 to a shopkeeper via a phone pay app. The police later registered a case under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 126(2), 308(2), 140(2), 74, 351(2), and 3(5).
Following the complaint, Sahakar Nagar Police initiated an investigation under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Rahul Gaud. The arrested individuals, Mahesh Mohan Raskar and Kiran Bhausaheb Dhagae, have confessed to the crime. Additionally, the vehicle used in the crime, valued at Rs. 4 lakh, has been seized.
The investigation was conducted with the oversight of Additional Commissioner of Police, South-West Regional Division, Manoj Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Circle-2, Smartana Patil. Police Inspectors Sagar Patil and Vishal Patil, along with other members of the Sahakar Nagar police team, played a key role in resolving the case swiftly and bringing the criminals to justice.
