Pune: After enduring a prolonged heatwave, Pune residents are experiencing a welcome respite as temperatures have decreased notably. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports a drop in the city’s maximum temperature from 42°C to 38.2°C. This cooling trend is attributed to increased moisture and cloud cover, which are expected to persist in the coming days.
According to the IMD, Pune’s maximum temperature today is anticipated to be around 39°C, with a minimum of approximately 23°C. While the morning is expected to be sunny, cloud formation is likely in the afternoon, potentially leading to light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in isolated areas.
The IMD has issued a weather alert for Pune and several other districts in Maharashtra, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h over the next four days. Farmers are advised to expedite essential agricultural activities to mitigate potential disruptions caused by the anticipated weather conditions.
This shift in weather patterns follows a period of intense heat, with temperatures previously soaring to 42°C. The current meteorological developments offer much-needed relief to the city’s residents and underscore the importance of staying informed about weather advisories during such transitional periods.
