Pune: Pune Traffic Diversions have been announced across the city to manage large processions and ensure public safety during Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, 2026. The Pune Traffic Diversions will remain in effect from the evening of April 13, with restrictions across major locations.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, the Pune Traffic Diversions aim to regulate heavy footfall near key areas such as Pune Station, Collectorate, Camp, Vishrantwadi and Sinhagad Road. Additionally, entry of heavy vehicles has been restricted for 24 hours starting 11 PM on April 13.
Meanwhile, several roads near the Collectorate and Pune Station have been closed. However, commuters can use alternate routes via Jehangir Chowk and Nehru Memorial Chowk. Similarly, in the Camp area, roads near Aurora Tower will remain restricted from early morning on April 14, with diversions via Dr. Coyaji Road and SBI House Chowk.
Furthermore, traffic movement in Vishrantwadi and Airport Road areas will be diverted through Holkar Bridge, Khadki and Golf Club Chowk. Consequently, commuters traveling toward Alandi and Bhosari must plan routes carefully. On Sinhagad Road, diversions near Dandekar Pool will redirect vehicles via Savarkar Chowk and Mangi Baba Chowk.
Parking arrangements have been made at SSPMS Ground and Tukaram Shinde Parking to ease congestion. Moreover, police personnel will be deployed at major junctions to assist citizens during processions.
In addition to Pune Traffic Diversions, authorities have announced a significant cultural shift. For the first time in 25 years, a ‘No DJ’ policy will be implemented during Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations. Therefore, the focus will shift from loud music systems to thoughtful and disciplined observance of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy.
Finally, citizens have been advised to follow traffic instructions, use alternative routes and cooperate with authorities for smooth celebrations.
