Pune: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken two Bangladeshi nationals into custody from Otur in Pune district. The duo was found to be residing illegally in India using forged identification documents. The operation was conducted with assistance from the local police.

The detained individuals have been identified as Tajmir Mostafa Ansari (29) and Mohammad Alimul Ghulam Ansari (28), both residing in Otur but originally from Bokrai village, Sharikira district in Bangladesh.

Based on technical surveillance, the ATS received intelligence about Tajmir, leading the team, along with Otur Police, to detain him. During interrogation, Tajmir revealed the whereabouts of his associate, Mohammad Ansari. Both were found to be residing together in Otur.

The police have seized fake Indian documents including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, driving licenses, mobile handsets, and expired Bangladeshi passports and visas from their possession. The operation was led under the guidance of ATS Police Inspector Sujata Tanawade, with Assistant Inspector Dattatray Darade, Head Constable Sharad Jadhav, and Tandlawade forming the core team.

15 Years of Illegal Stay in Otur

Both Bangladeshi nationals had reportedly been living in Otur for nearly 15 years, working as painters to earn a livelihood. They have now been handed over to the Otur Police. Legal proceedings are underway against them, and authorities are investigating the purpose behind their illegal entry and prolonged stay in India.
