Pune: In a decisive move to tackle unauthorized land development, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday directed authorities to launch strict action against illegal plotting and mining in Yeolewadi, Katraj, and Kondhwa areas of Pune. He instructed the municipal commissioner and the district administration to register criminal cases and present a comprehensive report within three days.
The minister’s directive came during a review meeting held in Mumbai, where BJP MLA Yogesh Tilekar raised concerns over the increasing instances of unregulated mining and illegal sale of small land plots. Tilekar pointed out that unsuspecting citizens are being lured by the comparatively lower prices of these plots, often unaware of their illegal status.
“Simply issuing notices and imposing fines will not suffice. The administration must take firm steps to halt these unlawful activities,” Bawankule emphasized.
The minister stressed that proactive measures are essential to prevent the exploitation of homebuyers and to safeguard the environment from the adverse effects of uncontrolled land use. The initiative marks a renewed push for regulatory enforcement in rapidly urbanizing pockets of the city.
