Mumbai: The wave of bomb threats in Mumbai continues, with two international schools—located in Govandi and Kandivali—receiving bomb threat emails shortly after a similar threat was made to the American Consulate. Mumbai Police have taken these incidents seriously and have registered cases against unidentified individuals at three separate police stations. Investigations are currently underway to trace the culprits.
On Saturday, Ryan International School in Thakur Complex, Kandivali East, received an email threatening a bomb explosion. The Samta Nagar Police registered a case against an unknown person for spreading fear through intimidation. The threat was later found to be baseless. The email was sent using an ID under the name “Divij Prabhakar Laxmi,” and police are using technical resources to trace the person behind this account. Officials suspect it may be a mischief-driven act.
Following this, Kanakia International School in Govandi also received a similar bomb threat. The same email ID—Divij Prabhakar Laxmi—was involved, raising suspicions that both incidents may be linked to the same individual. A case has been registered at Deonar Police Station under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act for issuing false threats and creating panic in public.
In a related incident, a threatening phone call was received by the American Consulate in BKC, Mumbai. Around 8 PM on Sunday, an unidentified caller threatened a bomb blast in the consulate premises. Mumbai Police immediately alerted all units, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was dispatched to the location. After a thorough search, no suspicious item was found. A case has been registered at the Bandra-Kurla Complex Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and efforts are ongoing to trace the caller.
